About The Position

Asahi Kasei Bioprocess America, Inc. (AKBA) is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team! The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the process laboratory, including preparing and maintaining reagents and equipment, ordering and organizing supplies, and supporting research and development activities as needed. The technician will also be responsible for assisting with manufacturing operations for products to be used by GMP manufacturing facilities. The technician is expected to understand and follow all SOPs and business practices to ensure that performance and documentation of all activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Organization and attention to detail is important along with a hardworking attitude and the ability to function within a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering or similar scientific discipline
  • Experience in a laboratory setting is strongly desired
  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a GMP or GLP environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead laboratory support activities, including preparing and maintaining reagents, ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and organizing lab spaces.
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure efficient usage of laboratory resources.
  • Assist in the execution and documentation of laboratory experiments and analytical assays under the supervision of scientists to develop and study bioprocess filtration and chromatography operations, as needed.
  • Understand and follow all SOPs and business practices to ensure that performance and documentation of all activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Support manufacturing of EZ GPT Kits through Quality Control testing and reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding Good Documentation Practices.
  • Attend and contribute to group meetings on a regular basis and provide written monthly status updates.
  • Assist field staff with shipments of equipment for studies as necessary
