About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that aids veterinarians in diagnosing and treating pets. IDEXX provides extensive training, making this role suitable for individuals with prior lab experience or those new to the field. This position is casual/per diem, meaning scheduling will be on an as-needed basis with potentially varying shifts and hours based on business requirements. Reliable and dependable attendance is essential.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
Experience operating laboratory equipment such as microscopes, pipetting, and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers.
Positive attitude and energy.
Ability to work in a team.
Concentration on details and ability to work reliably and precisely.
Strong sense of team spirit and responsibility.
Ability to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, ability to adjust focus).
Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory analyses and tests using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases.
Conduct diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples.
Set up, run, read, and release lab test results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Specialize in one or more areas such as Hematology (testing blood cell components, microscopic evaluation), Chemistry/Endocrinology (testing blood and body fluids), Urinalysis (analyzing urine components), Cytology (processing samples for microscopic examination), Immunology/Serology (detecting viral and bacterial diseases), or Patient Sample Management (receiving, preparing, and accessioning samples).
