About The Position

SGS is seeking entry-level, seasonal Laboratory Technicians for its East Syracuse, NY laboratory. This role involves preparing samples with accuracy and precision according to SGS' analytical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician will work both independently and as part of a team to achieve daily production targets, ensuring that hold times and turnaround times are met. A key aspect of this position is maintaining the highest quality through adherence to all policies, procedures, and quality verifications, while always following safe laboratory practices and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and prior general working experience (Required)
Proficient English language skills (Required)
Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
Basic computer skills (Required)
Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Independently prepares samples for analysis according to SGS’ SOPs, using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies after appropriate training.
Performs routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of preparation instruments/equipment.
May assist with validation and MDL studies.
Inputs and maintains technical information to support laboratory functions/operations.
May conduct non-interpretive sample analysis and draft analytical reports.
Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Performs all required quality verifications, ensuring best quality.
Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and consumables, ensuring appropriate levels at all times.
Ensures all chemicals are labelled appropriately, required personal protective equipment is worn consistently, and all safety precautions are followed.
Performs other duties as required.
