Eurofins Built Environment Testing is proactively seeking a Laboratory Technician to temporarily join our Naperville site. This position will be offered as a temporary position that will support the laboratory processing samples from May- December. The Laboratory Technician will need a solid understanding of microbiological techniques, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, repetitive environment. Sucessful training for position must be completed within two weeks of the start date. Training will consist of filtering and plating biological concentrates.

Requirements

  • AS or BS degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
  • Proven work experience as a Microbiology Laboratory Technician or in transferable laboratory setting
  • Hands-on experience with relevant equipment, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of modern microbiological techniques
  • Experience in preparing cultures of bacteria and other microorganisms
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Strong communication and written skills
  • Strong computer knowledge, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive and high energy attitude
  • Handle moderate stress in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine microbiological laboratory procedures and analyses
  • Maintain, calibrate, clean and test sterility of lab equipment
  • Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms
  • Document all data and results in specified forms
  • Conduct microbial analyses of samples collected from various sources
  • Adhere to correct procedures, policies, and health/safety guidelines
  • Prepare specimens and samples for testing
  • Work in compliance with laboratory safety standards
  • Prepare detailed reports of laboratory results and findings
