CONSULTANTS IN GASTROENTEROLOGY, P.A. JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: PATHOLOGY LABORATORY ASSISTANT IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: PATHOLOGY LABORATORY LEAD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge of medical procedures and techniques Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians Ability to make logical decisions and solve problems Communicate clearly and proficiently

Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate
Experience in the medical field preferred but not required
Knowledge of CLIA 88 requirements preferred but not required

Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods
Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of telephone and computer and occasional use of other office equipment

May be subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
Ability to intermittently lift and carry up to 50 lbs., up to five times per shift

Responsibilities

Create and maintain pathology data entry and log sheets
Assemble information for reports and label cassettes and slides as requested
Completes assigned workload within prescribed time limit
Troubleshoot clerical procedures to improve processes
Monitor supplies and order as needed
Review invoices to ensure accuracy
Ability to analyze, evaluate and solve procedural problems
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Ability to set priorities and use good judgment
Maintain standard operating procedures for requirements of position and ensure documentation of procedures remain current and in a centralized location
Assists histotechnologist with slide preparation as directed
Assists with equipment maintenance as directed by the histotechnologist
Abide by OSHA and HIPAA regulations
