About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Caleb Brett team in Gonzales, LA. This role involves performing analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products using ASTM and client-specific methods. The technician will ensure accurate and timely reporting of results while adhering to quality, safety, and operational standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow
  • Competency with computer systems and a capacity to learn LIMS system
  • Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
  • Ability to utilize both complex and non-complex instrumentation
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as business needs dictate

Nice To Haves

  • One semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
  • Previous laboratory work in third party petrochemical environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products in accordance with ASTM and client-specific methods.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of results.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods, or accepted industry standards in multiple testing areas.
  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Clean glassware and equipment.
  • Participate in the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Assist with preparing reagents as needed.
  • Record data from analysis and report data in to LIMS.
  • Assist in maintaining quality records, training records, control charts, and laboratory supply inventories.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Participate in cross training.
