About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Caleb Brett team in Gonzales, LA. This role involves performing analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products using ASTM and client-specific methods. The technician will ensure accurate and timely reporting of results while adhering to quality, safety, and operational standards. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow
Competency with computer systems and a capacity to learn LIMS system
Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
Ability to utilize both complex and non-complex instrumentation
Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as business needs dictate

Nice To Haves

One semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
Previous laboratory work in third party petrochemical environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel

Responsibilities

Perform analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products in accordance with ASTM and client-specific methods.
Ensure accurate, timely reporting of results.
Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods, or accepted industry standards in multiple testing areas.
Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
Clean glassware and equipment.
Participate in the preventative maintenance schedule.
Assist with preparing reagents as needed.
Record data from analysis and report data in to LIMS.
Assist in maintaining quality records, training records, control charts, and laboratory supply inventories.
Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
Participate in cross training.
