About The Position

Our Construction Services, Materials Engineering and Laboratory Group is growing, and we’re looking for Laboratory Technicians to join our close-knit team in Windsor, Ontario. You’ll play a hands-on role in delivering high-quality materials testing services that support safe, resilient infrastructure across the province—working alongside experienced engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary technical education in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a soils laboratory; field materials testing experience (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of standardized lab testing procedures (ASTM, AASHTO, CSA).
  • Experience with CCIL laboratory certification processes, proficiency testing programs, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), including accurate data entry, data interpretation, and report generation.
  • A demonstrated commitment to health and safety, with a safety-conscious approach to laboratory work.

Nice To Haves

  • CCIL Type C certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials in accordance with recognized industry standards.
  • Produce accurate, timely test results and documentation that support engineering decisions and client deliverables.
  • Participate in CCIL certification activities as required, supporting prompt and accurate testing and reporting.
  • Collect, record, and organize data clearly and consistently to enable efficient data entry and high-quality final reporting.
  • Support calibration, maintenance, and safe operation of laboratory equipment while maintaining strong housekeeping practices.
  • Contribute to the laboratory quality control program, supporting internal/external audits and helping identify and communicate non-conformances to the Lab Supervisor.
  • Assist with safe sample management practices, including shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
  • Collaborate effectively with office staff, field technicians/technologists, administrative teams, and occasionally clients to support integrated project delivery.
