About The Position

Train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university.
Certification eligible
Proficient in MS Word
Full-time employees are required to apply for and take the ASCP HT/HTL certification exam within six months after one-year work anniversary

Responsibilities

Assessing tissue adequacy for testing
Performing quality control checks on materials produced
Completing equipment maintenance and logs
Developing problem-solving skills
Determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
Controlling operations of equipment and systems
Monitoring and assessing performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
Assisting in Lab for other duties as assigned
Practicing safe work procedures while performing job duties
Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits
Assisting in Accessioning
Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets
All SOPs must be followed
Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead
Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained
