About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Laboratory Technician III to perform complex dry laboratory research activities. This role involves planning and conducting research projects, setting up and operating equipment, modifying methods, and analyzing data. The technician will also be responsible for preparing various technical documents, charts, graphs, and illustrations, and may assist in the preparation of materials for publication. Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience required
Associate's degree preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

Performs complex dry laboratory research activities, planning and conducting a complete project of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
Sets up and operates equipment.
Modifies methods and techniques, records, computes, and analyzes test data.
Prepares programs, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, and illustrations.
May assist in preparation of materials for publication.
Plans and conducts technical procedures, non-routine and complex in nature.
Sets up and operates sophisticated equipment or instrumentation.
Constructs major units of equipment.
Records, computes, and analyzes test data with latitude for modifying methods and techniques.
Prepares test reports and makes recommendations.
May review, analyze, and integrate technical work of others.
Assists in psychology, sociology or education studies and experiments involving human/animal subjects.
Prepares computer programs, schematics, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, and photographs.
May perform specialized duties in process or service laboratories, such as photography/illustration services.
Other duties as assigned.
