About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician II, you will prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities while actively contributing to team development through mentorship and training participation. Follow established protocols and quality standards. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associates degree from a four- or two-year college or university; HT, HTL certified
  • Experience: Two years Lab experience
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-3pm, onsite at the main office in Little Rock, Arkansas

Responsibilities

  • Assess tissue adequacy for testing
  • Thick and thin sectioning with precision operating within a small margin for error (if applicable)
  • Accurate identification of cellular areas of interest for electron microscopy image capture (if applicable)
  • Perform quality control checks on materials produced
  • Complete equipment maintenance and logs
  • Troubleshoot—determine causes of operating errors and decide corrective course of action
  • Maintain high performance and efficiency
  • Participate in training initiatives
  • Controlling operations of equipment and systems
  • Monitor and assess performance of self and others to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Assist in lab for other duties as assigned
  • Assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lab Policies
  • Maintenance and development of Lab logs and tracking sheets
  • Mentor and demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintain records of test
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
  • Follow the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications
  • Identify and document problems that may adversely affect test performance and notify the supervisor, administrative lead or lab manager
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all:
  • Quality control activities
  • Instrument and equipment verifications
  • Maintenance and preventive maintenance
  • All SOPs must be followed
  • Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager and/or Admin Lead
  • Laboratory standards for clinical testing must be maintained
  • Complete training in two areas; consistently make daily quotas
  • Other duties as assigned
