About The Position

The Laboratory Technician I assists with the production of viral vaccines and related work in Cambridge Technologies’ Sioux Center, Iowa laboratory facilities. The role supports manufacturing activities in the Cell Culture/Virus department and works under the Production Supervisor. It has no supervisory responsibilities. The position is classified as non-exempt.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow SOPs efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to communicate effectively, convey information to colleagues at various levels, and promote a team environment.
• Ability to recognize problems and assess solutions.
• Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend information.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Nice To Haves

• Aseptic technique experience.
• Clean room experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with aseptic procedures, including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest (including adherent cells, suspension cells, and primary cells harvested from chicken embryos), and vaccine filling.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain concurrent records and pertinent documentation.
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment for use.
• Communicate results accurately to the supervisor.
• Demonstrate and promote safe laboratory practices in all work areas.
• Act within company policy guidelines.
• Understand and work in accordance with USDA regulatory guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
