About The Position

Element has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician I to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. As a member of the Organics department at our Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne, IN, the Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine assignments within the department to ensure timely and accurate testing is performed. The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of laboratory safety
• 0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
• Basic understanding of testing concepts
• Possess computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

Responsibilities

• Preserve, prepare, extract, and concentrate samples to be analyzed by the organics department
• Routinely work with client samples, laboratory instruments, chemicals, and reagents
• Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures, published methods, and laboratory accreditations
• Operate under the supervision of more senior test technicians, chemists, and/or department managers
• Complete logs and record test data
• Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Clean glassware and dispose of samples
