About The Position

Maintain positive control of system chemistry for the GGS units in support of safe and reliable operation. Monitor, operate and maintain laboratory equipment required for chemistry control. Conduct tests and analyses to determine equipment condition and in support of troubleshooting efforts. Due to the close proximity of GGS and Canaday Power Station, this position helps to support both facilities as plant conditions/resources dictate and will provide assistance to the site environmental coordinator in regard to environmental regulatory programs.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Chemistry OR Associates degree in Chemistry plus two years’ experience preferred.
HS diploma/GED plus four years relevant experience OR other laboratory work experience (military) demonstrating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties.
Experience preferred in: water treatment processes (including Reserve Osmosis and demineralizer systems), power plant, or related industrial work environment.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyze boiler, condensate, and auxiliary water system samples; monitor boiler, condensate, and auxiliary water system parameters; and adjust treatment as required to maintain system parameters within prescribed limits for the GGS units.
Monitor, adjust, and verify proper operation of analyzers and recorders, and prepare chemicals to be used in various lab tests.
Collect and test coal samples for proximate / ultimate analysis; perform pulverizer fineness testing.
Collect and test fly ash samples for inorganic and pulverizer fineness analysis as required.
Perform cathodic protection surveys.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.
