About The Position

The Laboratory Technician / Assistant supports teaching efforts for the Department of Human Science (HSCI) faculty. The individual is integrated into the department via the human science laboratory courses taught by faculty and teaching assistants, and also is part of the research laboratory within the department. Individual coordinates and prepares all laboratory needs for the Human Biology, Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Fundamentals of Health and Disease, Genetics in Health & Disease, and additional laboratory courses for School of Health. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Laboratory preparation and education Supporting student learning and laboratory success Research contribution

Requirements

Minimum academic qualification of a B.A. degree.
At least one year of experience in biology and microbiology procedures or wet lab technical experience.
Excellent verbal, written communication, and math skills are required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with preparation of stock solutions, standard molecular biology techniques, tissue culture skills, and ability to read bacterial and fungal cultures is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assume a support role for the daily laboratory classes, with their primary responsibility preparing materials and space for the laboratory activities.
Contribute to laboratory classes led by HSCI faculty, assisting students during laboratory classes, providing supplementary instruction, and maintaining laboratory resources.
Help with direct research of HSCI faculty and their students, outside of the teaching time.
