About The Position
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Mississauga. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Authorization to work in the Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25lbs and standing for various lengths of time
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Nice To Haves
- Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Responsibilities
- Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis including Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Dust, Water, Soil
- Utilization of balances, HEPA filtered fume hoods, filtration systems and muffle furnaces to prep samples
- Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
