About The Position

This position is accountable for coordinating and managing all phlebotomy and technical student externships for internal and external candidates within the SQL/LSA System. This position will be a driving force for continued commitment to the internal and external training programs and their development as it serves the company’s needs. This position builds relationships with accredited educational institutions through sustainable partnerships and is an advocate for the company regarding potential recruitment and marketing. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in laboratory, biological, chemical science or equivalent experience and education.
  • Four (4) years’ technical experience in a medical diagnostics laboratory setting.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in institutional education demonstrated in any of the following ways: Preceptor, program faculty/classroom instructor, extern liaison, or related experience.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communications skills; including the ability to create presentations and facilitate training sessions.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and disciplines with successful outcomes.
  • Proficient ability using various computer applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of employees and leaders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including use of virtual and social media tools such as LinkedIn.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the Chair for the Technical Education Advisory Council (TEACh) within SQL/LSA. Working with TEACh and SQL/LSA organizational leaders to sustain the delivery of excellent patient care by providing a pipeline for recruiting quality trained clinical lab professionals through our extern programs.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with program directors and clinical coordinators of external educational programs supported by SQL/LSA. Maintain membership, attend, and provide input at Advisory Council meetings of these programs, in addition, represents the interest of SQL/LSA by actively participating in those regional groups which promote the mutual interests of the Arizona allied health community. Collaboration and involvement with high school student development in promoting Allied Health/ Laboratory professions.
  • Manage the externship programs to include scheduling student assignments, monitoring onboarding, and acting as a resource to resolve externship issues among school coordinators, site preceptors, and students.
  • Involvement with committees within SQL/LSA and external to SQL/LSA to ensure externships are meeting all internal and external requirements. Is an internal resource regarding different university and college school programs. Partners with the Tuition Assistance Coordinator regarding programs outside of Certification Upgrade Cohort Program (CUCP).
  • Advocates and acts as a resource for employees interested or involved in a clinical lab training program with a focus on the Certification Upgrade Cohort Program (CUCP). Works closely with key internal stakeholders and educational institutions to promote and grow the CUCP, advises employees interested in adjunct faculty positions.
  • Drives standardization and consistency of policies, procedures, and training relative to employee CUCP participation in compliance with SQL/LSA policies. Responsible for reporting annual metrics to senior leaders of SQL/LSA.
