About The Position

Inpatient Phlebotomist position, located in Portage Medical Center. University Hospitals Portage Medical Center provides the residents of Portage County with convenient access to nationally recognized healthcare. The only hospital in the county, UH Portage offers a wide array of medical and surgical specialties, comprehensive imaging facilities and a Level III Trauma Emergency Department. This position is part of an established career ladder. Appropriate title and pay will be assigned based on Education and Experience.

Requirements

High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
less than 1 year Entry level (Required)
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, co-workers.
Takes responsibility for self-development
Working knowledge of preanalytic laboratory and safety policies and procedures.
Display initiative to perform job duties
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Ability to multi-task
Competent on venipuncture for all ages.

Nice To Haves

Other Accredited Program: Formal Training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program (preferred)
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred Upon Hire)

Responsibilities

Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomy
Processes specimens for laboratory testing.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
