About The Position

The Unpaid Internship – Laboratory Support Intern position is designed to provide students with a structured learning experience and career exploration within a regulated laboratory environment. Under direct supervision and mentorship from laboratory personnel, the intern will gain exposure to laboratory operations, sample preparation techniques, documentation practices, and quality-focused processes commonly utilized within the bioanalytical and research industry. This internship is intended to support the intern’s academic and professional development through observation, training, guided participation, and guided learning opportunities appropriate to the intern’s educational background, training level, and applicable safety requirements. Internship activities and laboratory exposure will be assigned consistent with the participant’s age, experience level, training completion, safety requirements, and applicable company policies.

Requirements

  • Must meet applicable minimum age and safety eligibility requirements for laboratory access and participation.
  • Currently enrolled in high school, technical program, community college, or accredited college/university program with an interest in scientific or laboratory-related fields.
  • Coursework in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related scientific disciplines
  • Prior academic laboratory experience
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory safety practices
  • Interest in Contract Research Organizations (CROs), drug development, bioanalysis, or regulated laboratory environments

Responsibilities

  • Observe and participate in introductory laboratory support activities, including guided sample preparation observation and organization of laboratory materials under direct supervision.
  • Learn laboratory documentation practices, including maintenance of study documentation and laboratory records in accordance with applicable procedures and quality standards.
  • Receive introductory training and supervised exposure to laboratory equipment and laboratory processes relevant to assigned educational activities.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings, team discussions, and learning opportunities to gain exposure to laboratory operations and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop organizational and time management skills through guided assignment planning and prioritization activities.
  • Support a collaborative team environment through communication, professionalism, and participation in educational activities.
  • Observe and learn continuous improvement and quality-focused practices utilized within the laboratory environment.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and follow established environmental health and safety requirements, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in educational assignments, observational learning activities, and supervised laboratory support tasks within established safety and training limitations.
  • Participate in additional learning assignments or educational projects related to the internship experience.
