About The Position

Responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Core Laboratory to ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant laboratory services. Provides leadership and support to laboratory personnel through staffing coordination, technical oversight, quality management, staff development, and workflow optimization.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Four years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Certification of MLT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years lead or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of SoftLab and Epic.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily laboratory operations to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient testing services.
  • Lead, mentor, and support laboratory personnel while ensuring compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical oversight, problem resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the accuracy and integrity of patient testing.
  • Monitor workflow, turnaround times, staffing levels, pending worklists, and specimen collection/processing activities.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of personnel and resources to maintain efficient operations.
  • Escalate issues requiring MLS technical consultants, pathologist, or management involvement as appropriate.
  • Oversee quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and documentation activities.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely reporting of patient results.
  • Assist with staffing plans, daily assignments, breaks, meal coverage, and schedule adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety policies and infection prevention practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Assists the Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Director in the coordination of bi-annual and mid cycle CAP inspections and responds to identified deficiencies to ensure continued accreditation.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with providers, nursing, ancillary departments, technical consultants, and laboratory leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
