About The Position

The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee the Laboratory Department at Texas Health Kaufman. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of patient results in a community hospital setting. The department boasts a diverse team, a newly remodeled laboratory with the latest technology, and serves one of the fastest-growing counties in the country.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Science OR Bachelor's Degree with 24 semester hours of science courses (6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination).
  • 5 Years of experience under the direction of an MT or Pathologist.
  • MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist Upon Hire OR CT(ASCP) - Cytotechnologist Upon Hire OR HTL(ASCP) - Histotechnologist Upon Hire OR MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist Upon Hire OR SCT(ASCP) - Specialist in Cytotechnology Upon Hire OR Other equivalent of one of the above including AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY state license, Phillipine Board Upon Hire OR HT(ASCP) - Histotechnician if supervising Histology within Anatomical Pathology Upon Hire.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
  • Problem-solving ability, time management skills, and possesses organizational skills to function successfully in a fast paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with CAP standards, including participation in CAP inspections and maintaining ongoing CAP readiness.
  • Experience conducting competency assessments.
  • 2 Years leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees work schedules and personnel assignments for the department and Delegates employee responsibilities as needed.
  • Regularly makes constructive suggestions for departmental improvement and shows willingness to help supervisor implement changes.
  • Assumes and performs complex laboratory procedures when needed.
  • Reviews reagent quality control that is reported by the technologists and instrument maintenance that is performed by the technologists.
  • Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees and observers.
