About The Position

Responsible for the technical aspects of the Clinical Laboratory operation. This includes overseeing the Quality Management program in various sections of the lab, tracking proficiency testing, ensuring logbooks are complete, updating policies and procedures, scheduling staff, administering competency assessments, and performing advanced instrument troubleshooting. The role also involves covering for CLS staff when needed and for the Laboratory Director during vacations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree
• A minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience required
• Current California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist required
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Utilizes appropriate computer skills to type, track and print policies and procedures as well as reports (i.e., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to speak effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversees Quality Management program in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Immunology and Urinalysis.
• Tracks proficiency testing to ensure completeness and troubleshoots failures.
• Covers for CLS when unable to otherwise fill schedule.
• Reviews logbooks/log sheets for completeness.
• Ensures policies and procedures are current and updated.
• Schedules staff.
• Administers competency assessments.
• Performs advanced troubleshooting on instruments as needed.
• Covers for Director during vacations.
