About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Histology Supervisor to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. This role involves supervising the day-to-day operations of the Histology department, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory testing, and directly supervising, training, and mentoring laboratory personnel. The supervisor will monitor daily workflow, schedule assay coverage, resolve production errors, and engage in continuous process improvements. Responsibilities also include ensuring equipment maintenance through Quality Control, preparing Quality Assurance records, evaluating new process improvements, conducting regular meetings with direct reports for coaching, performing bench work as needed, and maintaining proficiency. The role requires adherence to state and federal regulations, administration of policies and procedures, and processing of payroll and personnel files. Administrative duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
Minimum 5 years of experience or more as a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician
Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
6 months or more of supervisory or leadership experience
Histology and/or ASCP certifications
In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

Supervise the day to day operations of the Histology department
Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
Perform administrative duties as needed
