About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Accessioner/Processor to join its team at Henry Ford Rochester in Rochester, Michigan. The role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science. The processor prepares, identifies, routes, stores, and ships laboratory specimens, enters patient information, and addresses problem specimens.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong data entry and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of experience in clinical laboratory processing or accessioning.
• Six months or more of experience in customer service or a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Resolve and document problem specimens.
