Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join our team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI. This role works in a high volume, production based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months or more clinical specimen processing or specimen receiving experience

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing anatomic pathology specimens
  • Accessioning anatomic pathology specimens
  • Preparing and loading tissue processing runs
  • Cutting and staining frozen section tissues
  • Performing maintenance on histology instrumentation
  • Distributing pathology materials
  • Assisting on fine needle aspiration procedures
  • Filing slides and blocks, restocking laboratory supplies
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
