About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join their team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI. This role is responsible for receiving and processing anatomic pathology specimens, accessioning them, preparing and loading tissue processing runs, cutting and staining frozen section tissues, and performing maintenance on histology instrumentation. The position also involves distributing pathology materials, assisting on fine needle aspiration procedures, and other tasks such as filing slides and blocks, and restocking laboratory supplies. Key duties include unpacking and routing specimens, accurately identifying and labeling them, packing and shipping specimens to proper testing facilities, meeting department activity and production goals, preparing and storing excess specimen samples, and accurately entering patient data. Problem specimens must also be resolved and documented.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

  • 6 months or more clinical specimen processing or specimen receiving experience
