About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor/Courier to join their team in Raritan, NJ. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, unpacking and routing specimens, accurately identifying and labeling them, packing and shipping them to proper testing facilities, and meeting department production goals. The role also includes data entry of patient information, resolving problem specimens, and packing and storing excess specimen samples. Additionally, the position requires driving responsibilities, including loading and unloading specimens, completing pickups and deliveries in a timely manner, handling specimens safely, operating a company vehicle, using a handheld electronic device for pickups, and evaluating traffic patterns and routes. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • At least 21 years' old
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blind test

Nice To Haves

  • 3 months or more of driver/courier experience
  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
  • Load and unload specimens as per requirement, in and out from the vehicle.
  • Complete pickup and delivery in a timely manner
  • Handle all specimens and lab samples in safe and efficient manner
  • Safely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic laws
  • Utilize handheld electronic device to manage daily picks up
  • Work directly with the supervisor/manager for any and all pick-ups as needed
  • Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes and weather conditions as needed
