About The Position

The Douam Lab at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine Department of Virology, Immunology, and Microbiology (VIM) and the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee lab operations. This position is responsible for managing the mouse colony and generation of mouse models, including breeding, maintaining Xeno recipient strains, performing and characterizing engraftments, and supporting lab members in applying these models to research projects. In addition to animal model management, the Lab Manager will oversee lab operations, including ordering supplies, inventory control, scheduling, and coordinating communications within the lab and with external collaborators. They will also ensure compliance with lab safety regulations, serve as the primary contact with the Lab Safety Office, and train incoming lab members on required protocols. The role includes direct research support, assisting lab members with both animal and in vitro research, and contributing to contracted research projects. The Lab Manager will also carry out an independent research project under the guidance of the PI, involving experimental planning and execution with some independent decision-making.
