Axle is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Clinical Center (CC) located in Frederick, MD.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • Prior experience working in biosafety level 4 labs conducting virology and immunology assays
  • Background in Microbiology
  • Familiarity with specimen storage and accountability
  • Skills in immunology assays
  • Skills in basic and molecular virology

Responsibilities

  • Conducts translational human and animal research on pathogenesis and treatment of high consequence emerging viral infections (e.g., Ebola, Nipah virus)
  • Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings
  • Coordinate the work of biological technicians and technologists and other scientists
  • Develops and maintains proficiency working safely and effectively in a biosafety level four laboratory environment
  • Provides technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life
  • Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment
  • Establishes and maintains accurate reliable sample inventory
  • Learns new laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Implements existing and assimilates new assays and techniques related to virology and immunology
  • Meet with lab members to present updates — Weekly
