About The Position

The Concannon Lab in the Division of Medical Oncology is looking for a Laboratory Science Intermediate Professional with an interest in thoracic oncology research, including primary human T-cell cultures, cancer cell-line work, etc. This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO. CU Anschutz is an academic medical campus at the forefront of transformative education, science, medicine, and healthcare. In Medical Oncology, our faculty are acknowledged both nationally and internationally for their innovative work in cancer research, resulting in regular collaborations with a variety of institutions globally in addition to collaborations with colleagues within our own division and institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.
  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results.
  • Supporting other lab team members.
  • Basic laboratory maintenance.
  • Communication of our laboratory work with the patient community through in-person interactions and social media.
