About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Robotics Operator to join our team in Raritan, NJ. This is a per diem position with a work schedule between the hours of 11pm-7:30am, Monday-Friday with alternating Saturdays, working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves introducing and preparing biological specimens for accurate processing, opening specimens, pouring them into secondary containers for analysis, and verifying patient demographic information against test requisitions. Data entry of patient information for tracking purposes is also a key responsibility. The operator will be expected to meet production metrics and quality measures, unpack and route specimens, pack and ship them as required, prepare and store excess samples, and resolve/document problem specimens. Additionally, the role includes handling and disposing of medical and chemical waste, and complying with environmental health and safety policies. Operating automated instrumentation under supervision may also be necessary.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience using automated equipment
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

3 months or more of specimen processing experience
3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing
Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
Resolve and document any problem specimens
Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste
Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures
Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary
