About The Position

The Laboratory Quality Supervisor (LQS) develops, monitors, and oversees a multidisciplinary team and establishes goals and performance standards for laboratory testing. While not directly responsible for daily monitoring of each bench area, the LQS ensures that standards are met and addresses the needs of both the PNS Office and the hospital laboratory. The LQS oversees laboratory CAP activities, understands applicable checklist questions for general test performance, and oversees technical staff training and the six elements of competency per CAP guidelines. Responsibilities include overseeing biennial reviews of laboratory procedure manuals and form reviews, maintaining appropriate documentation, and responding to regulatory agencies as required. The LQS works closely with Senior Techs, the Phlebotomy Supervisor, the Lab Director, the Pathologist, designated nursing staff, and the hospital quality department to ensure standards are met and documentation is maintained. The role also oversees point-of-care testing performed in the hospital by nonlaboratory staff. The LQS ensures laboratory quality measures are entered into the Dashboard promptly, follows up with corrective action when indicated, and submits monthly data to the Pathologist and Lab Director for review and sign-off.
