Laboratory Program Manager (Science, Chemistry, and Laboratory Manager 2)
About The Position
The Oregon Department of Agriculture is seeking a Laboratory Program Manager (Science, Chemistry, and Laboratory Manager 2) to oversee and improve the daily operations of their laboratory facilities. This role involves leading and implementing initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and compliance in the labs. The position is full-time permanent and located in Wilsonville, Oregon. The Laboratory Program Manager provides scientific, supervisory, and strategic leadership for the agency’s analytical laboratory program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. This includes overseeing laboratory personnel, maintaining ISO IEC 17025 accreditation, serving as the agency representative for Oregon’s Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ORELAP), and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role also involves developing, implementing, and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures, and leading, supervising, mentoring, and recruiting diverse, competent, innovative, and service-oriented staff.
Requirements
- Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience.
- OR Three years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field of science.
- Must complete US Department of Homeland Security's Form I-9 within three days of hire.
- Must present I-9 acceptable documents for employment verification.

Responsibilities

- Maintains accreditation to ISO IEC 17025.
- Serves as the agency representative member to Oregon’s Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ORELAP).
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
- Develops, implements, and maintains laboratory policies and procedures.
- Leads, supervises, mentors, and recruits diverse, competent, innovative, and service-oriented staff.
