The Laboratory Processing Technician is responsible for receiving, handling, preparing, and processing laboratory specimens for testing and analysis. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and basic medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • associate or bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred
  • Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and log incoming specimens accurately into the laboratory system
  • Prepare samples for testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage
  • Verify specimen integrity and resolve discrepancies or labeling issues
  • Gather all the appropriate documents for submitting with the samples
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all laboratory activities
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, CLIA)
  • Communicate effectively with lab staff, supervisors, and other departments
  • Assist in inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies
  • Dispose of biohazard materials in compliance with safety regulations
  • Support quality control procedures and participate in audits when required
