About The Position

As Laboratory Manager for the Bacterial Retention team within the North American Validation Services group, you will lead and develop a high-performing team of scientists, specialists, and assistants while overseeing technical, operational, and support activities. You will coordinate laboratory staff schedules, manage resources and training, ensure compliance and safety, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The purpose of this role solves the challenge of maintaining efficient, compliant, and high-quality laboratory operations by leading a dedicated team that supports the mission to deliver best-in-class validation testing services. Currently, our team consists of 7 Validation Specialists and 1 assistant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a life science field (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a regulated biotech/biopharmaceutical industry
  • 2+ years of experience in laboratory management

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day operations focusing on microbiology and physical components testing on pharmaceutical filtration devices
  • Ensure the Laboratory has the appropriate capacity and capability set up to deliver on the business plan and objectives
  • Manage change to continuously improve cycle time, right first time and rerun rate key performance indicators
  • Coordinate on-time completion of customer projects & prioritize high visibility projects to meet aggressive timelines
  • Maintain equipment & ensuring they are fit-for-purpose
  • Ensure all the management-related activities and tasks (e.g., Performance Management Process, Compensation Review Cycle, Recruiting, Development, Learning) are completed on-time and in alignment with global and local HR policies
  • Maintain current industry and regulatory knowledge to provide the team with the most up to date information related to their testing
  • Participate in world-wide harmonization projects, goals, and initiatives among global Validation Services laboratories.
  • Oversight of the calibration and validation program for the lab equipment
  • Full accountability for lab equipment and personnel at all times
