The Booker Lab at the University of Pennsylvania is a dynamic biochemical research group focused on understanding the mechanisms of radical S-adenosylmethionine (rSAM) enzymes and other metalloenzymes involved in complex biochemical transformations. The lab integrates enzymology, structural biology, mechanistic chemistry, and microbial metabolism to uncover how these systems function at the molecular level. In addition to its research mission, the lab maintains strong connections with HHMI and the broader university community, including involvement in training and mentorship initiatives. The Booker Lab is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and proactive Lab Manager to oversee both technical and administrative operations in support of the lab’s research mission. This role is central to maintaining a productive, safe, and well-coordinated laboratory environment while enabling high-quality experimental work. The Lab Manager will serve as a key liaison between the lab, HHMI, and university administrative offices, managing budgeting, purchasing, compliance, and grant-related activities. This individual may also support or contribute to research projects, depending on background and experience. This position offers strong exposure to leadership, mentorship, and lab operations, and is well-suited for individuals interested in developing long-term careers in scientific research, administration, or academic leadership. The preferred start timeline for this position is June 2026. This is a full-time role, and flexibility is required to support time-sensitive lab needs, including occasional off-hours communication to ensure continuity of operations.
