About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Laboratory Manager for the Diabetes/Endocrinology (Powers Lab) to lead laboratory operations. This role involves administrative, research, and technical duties, including supervising staff, developing lab guidelines, and maintaining procedures. The Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at VUMC has a strong tradition in clinical care, research, and education, with over 70 faculty and staff members involved in diverse clinical programs and research. Responsibilities

Initiate changes or develop new policies, procedures and/or methods.
Perform test experiment procedures relating to laboratory activities.
Indirect budgetary responsibility depending on laboratory, may prepare the budget for approval by administration and monitor expenditures against the budget.
Evaluate quality assurance standards, programs and procedures within the unit/laboratory and ensure effective instrument/equipment use and quality control of laboratory.
Ensure accuracy and reliability of tests/experiments.
Develop new and modify existing methodology/protocols.
Perform, interpret and evaluate research.
Serve as a resource to others and assist in performing and interpreting technical studies.
May prepare and present lectures or laboratory exercises; and coordinate guest lecturers.
