Requirements

BS/BA degree in chemistry or related field
Working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Access.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Self-directed, goal-oriented.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds using correct and safe lifting techniques
Must be able to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods of time
Must be able to wear all PPE required for the position

Nice To Haves

1-2 years of experience as a GC/HPLC analyst is preferred.
Familiarity with Element 7 is preferred.

Responsibilities

Runs and reports environmental samples to meet production and quality goals.
Plans daily workflow.
Monitors quality of procedures and proper technique.
Communicates issues and needs to the Team lead.
Performs tasks according to Sterling Labs SOPs and protocols in a safe manner, following honest and ethical behavior in all laboratory activities.
Performs specific duties assigned by the Organic Team Lead to ensure that client service requests are met.
Manages sample workload to meet reporting deadlines.
Uploads and reviews results in Sterling Lab’s LIMS.
Quantifies and qualifies results based on the analytical method and SOP.
Reports accurate and on-time data in ELEMENT 7.
Calibrates instrumentation accurately according to SOPs.
Builds sequence and batch data to maximize instrument run efficiency.
Performs daily and ongoing maintenance on instruments, including inlet maintenance, changing columns, source cleaning, etc.
Prepares standards and reagents.
Makes critical decisions about the quality of samples prior to analysis to protect instruments and meet client objectives.
Assists other analysts and extractors in other lab areas as workflow requires, under direction of your supervisor.
Maintains good housekeeping habits and assists with sample disposal.
Communicates to the Team lead the status of the workload as well as any data quality issues.
Assists supervisor in determining sources of problems and implementing corrective actions to resolve those issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
