About The Position

Terrapex is seeking a Laboratory/Facilities Technician for their Toronto office. This role provides essential hands-on support for the Geotechnical Laboratory and Facilities operations. The technician is crucial for maintaining safe, efficient, and productive laboratory and facility operations, enabling Project Staff to focus on billable project work. This is an entry-level opportunity with structured on-the-job training and safety-focused learning, offering long-term growth opportunities within an employee-owned consulting firm. The position offers a salary range of $21.50-$24.60 per hour.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • Comfortable working in dirty, messy, and outdoor environments
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the geotechnical laboratory, including work areas, equipment, and collection systems
  • Transport, track, organize, store, and dispose of asphalt, rock core, and soil samples in accordance with established procedures
  • Assist laboratory staff with soil and materials testing as required
  • Support geotechnical field operations and site work when needed
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and upkeep
  • Maintain health & safety and equipment maintenance logs and documentation
  • Procure and deliver laboratory and field supplies
  • Perform daily and weekly facility maintenance and housekeeping, including cleaning work areas, equipment, sediment traps, eyewash stations, and waste removal
  • Maintain organization and readiness of tools, equipment, and storage areas
  • Manage office logistics, including courier reception and coordination
  • Ensure company vehicles and equipment are operational and site-ready, including seasonal preparation (e.g., snow tires)
  • Maintain exterior areas such as parking lots and outdoor common spaces
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles, carts, dollies, and facility systems
  • Perform tasks such as vehicle washing, trailer cleaning, and transporting vehicles for servicing as needed.
