About The Position

Franklin Biolabs is seeking a Laboratory Equipment Engineer, II to manage the design, integration, qualification, maintenance, and lifecycle of GxP analytical and vivarium laboratory equipment and supporting systems. This role involves authoring deviation investigations, change controls, and equipment functional tests, as well as reviewing facility designs. The position ensures laboratory instruments and infrastructure operate reliably, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, while collaborating with scientists, quality, facilities, and IT teams to support efficient laboratory operations and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced contract research environment, managing technical and operational challenges. This role requires full-time on-site presence, potential weekend support, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Chemical, Systems, or related field) and 2+ years of relevant industrial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Experience with CMMS / asset management systems
Good documentation and attention to details.
Ability to forecast issues and problem solve with oversight from senior employees.
Holds themselves accountable for the success of the department and company.
Previous experience in regulated environments (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced highly accountable environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Self-directed individual with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties.

Responsibilities

Design, integration, qualification, maintenance, and lifecycle management of GxP analytical and vivarium laboratory equipment and supporting systems.
Authoring deviation investigations, change controls, and equipment functional tests.
Reviewing facility designs to support the introduction of new equipment or processes.
Ensuring laboratory instruments and infrastructure operate reliably, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and operational requirements.
Partnering closely with scientists, quality, facilities, and IT teams to support efficient laboratory operations and continuous improvement.
Responding to emergencies as part of an on-call rotation.
