About The Position

The Laboratory Director role requires an Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with two years of experience in a high complexity testing environment. A Bachelor's degree in a related science field with one year of experience is preferred. The position requires certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory technician and current BLS certification. Clinical and supervisory/management experience are essential. The role involves significant mental demands due to changing priorities, requiring strong reasoning, judgment, and decision-making skills. The individual must be able to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately, understand spatial relationships, and perceive details in various forms of material. The work demands prolonged periods of close concentration, initiative, and the ability to handle potentially controversial or emotional issues.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
  • Two years of training/experience in a high complexity testing environment
  • Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory technician
  • Current BLS certification
  • Clinical experience
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Ability to understand instructions, reason, and make judgments
  • Ability to understand the meaning of words, ideas associated with them, and their effective use
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately
  • Ability to understand forms in space and understand relationships of plane and solid objects
  • Ability to perceive pertinent details and objects in pictorial or graphic material
  • Ability to perceive pertinent detail and verbal or tabular material

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s in medical technology, chemical, physical or biological science
  • One year training/experience in a high complexity testing environment
  • ASCP certification preferred

Responsibilities
