About The Position

The Laboratory Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is accountable for the strategic leadership of the laboratory. This role oversees a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure the efficient operation of the clinical laboratory and compliance with corporate policies. The Director is responsible for the quality control program, quality assurance, and the point of care testing programs within the clinical laboratory. This position plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the work of the clinical laboratory and coordinates it with other areas of the hospital. The Director is responsible for all personnel, including hiring, discipline, conflict resolution, staff development, evaluation, and payroll. Additionally, the Director assures the laboratory meets all regulatory requirements (CAP, AABB, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.).

Requirements

  • BS degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Degree must be in Medical Laboratory Science or one of the biological or chemical sciences.
  • Laboratory training through an accredited laboratory school required.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience required.
  • Demonstrated management experience required.
  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • MS degree preferred.
