About The Position

Performs duties primarily in support of analyzing Laboratory quality control and patient specimens. Also performs quality assurance tasks related to the analytic phase of Laboratory work flow. Operates, maintains and does basic troubleshooting of Laboratory analyzers that perform testing classified as "waived" and "moderate complexity." Receives, handles and processes a variety of specimens for Laboratory testing. Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Requirements

HS Diploma: High School or General Education Diploma (GED)
2 years recent relevant experience
Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to ordering Laboratory testing.
Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to handling and processing biological specimens routinely submitted to the Laboratory for analysis.
Knowledge and practice of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to supporting the performance of waived and moderate complexity testing.
Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks.
Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume.
Ability to appropriately respond to unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failure.
Ability to appropriately respond to shift-to-shift hand-offs.
Ability to appropriately respond to STAT test orders.
Ability to appropriately respond to specimen integrity issues.
Ability to appropriately respond to regular review of pending logs, priority assignments, etc.

Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures aimed at ensuring the privacy and safety of patients.
Solid critical thinking in applying knowledge and decision-making.

Organizing and prioritizing job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
Appropriately responding to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failure, shift-to-shift hand-offs, STAT test orders, specimen integrity issues, and regular review of pending logs, priority assignments, etc.
