Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) and instruct patients on providing other samples.
  • Receive, label, centrifuge, and distribute samples to the correct testing departments.
  • Accurately enter patient information and test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Sterilize and clean lab equipment, glassware, and work areas to prevent contamination.
  • Track inventory and stock testing supplies.
  • Monitor temperatures of storage units, calibrate instruments, and report any discrepancies in test results.
  • Field inquiries from nursing units, doctors' offices, and patients regarding specimen requirements and test status.
