About The Position

This is a dual-role position as a Laboratory Assistant and a Limited X-Ray Machine Operator. The role involves preparing laboratory specimens and supplies, entering laboratory orders and results, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment. The position requires performing clinical laboratory testing using manual and automated methods, adhering to laboratory policies and procedures, and managing the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Medical laboratory safety standards and quality requirements must be met. The role also serves as a laboratory resource to other healthcare personnel and requires critical and independent judgment for decision-making and problem-solving. Additionally, the position requires obtaining Limited X-Ray Machine Operator Training and Certification. Responsibilities in this aspect include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, following strict guidelines for radiographic equipment usage, communicating effectively with patients, working with critically ill patients, maintaining patient privacy, and proficient record-keeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred
  • Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Will be required to obtain Limited X-Ray Machine Operator Training and Certification
