Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics as well as employees.
• Performs venous, capillary and infant heel sticks to ensure specimen integrity.
• Follows proper labeling protocols for specimen tubes/containers.
• Follows order of draw/collection.
• Performs clerical functions, processing duties, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens and training of students and employees.
• Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned.
• Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
• Inputs and retrieves data from laboratory /hospital computer system.
