About The Position

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing client samples for extraction and analysis, and sample login activities at the laboratory while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. You will be working independently and in a team environment, with an emphasis on providing quality and efficient service to clients.

Requirements

  • Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with confident computer skills;
  • Organized, analytical, and process oriented;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • Ability to handle pressure from high sample volumes and competing turnaround times;
  • Work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
  • To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.

Responsibilities

  • Process samples in a timely manner, to meet client Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements;
  • Measure sample mass/volume, add surrogates, perform extractions using common laboratory solvents;
  • Extraction and concentration of required parameters in soil, water and oil samples as well as other non- routine matrices;
  • Responsible for the calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of basic lab instruments;
  • Addition of quality control standards such as matrix spike and surrogate solutions;
  • Clean glassware and laboratory equipment;
  • Monitor and restock laboratory consumables/chemicals;
  • Samples shelving, archiving, and disposal;
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and reference materials;
  • Perform all required record-keeping and documentation;
  • Monitor controlled equipment
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Lead.
