This role supports Partners in Women’s Health, which specializes in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Laboratory Assistants are utilized to the top of their ability while remaining conscious of our accreditation requirements. In this role, you will have the opportunity to advance your skills each day, which can lead to moving into various other laboratory positions at the technologist level.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and utilizing instrumentation.
  • Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.
  • Requires frequent sitting or standing.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various laboratory procedures.
  • Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting and storing specimens.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • Perform quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain adequate stock of supplies and manage the inventory by transporting and distributing supplies.
  • Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies
