About The Position

Responsible for receiving, processing, and distributing clinical laboratory specimens. This position does not require patient care. The role involves receiving, labeling, and distributing clinical laboratory specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples. Processing includes verifying patient information, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system, and preparing them for testing. The assistant will also monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and follow established procedures for specimen handling, storage, and disposal. Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area, adhering to safety and quality standards (including PPE use, hazardous material disposal, and accreditation requirements), and collaborating with laboratory staff and healthcare providers for timely and accurate specimen processing are key aspects of the role. Other related duties may be assigned by laboratory management.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and terminology.
Ability to follow established procedures and protocols with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
