Laboratory Assistant - Core Laboratory
About The Position
Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is an evening shift position working 8 and 10 hour shifts between the hours of 1300 and 2300. Responsibilities include drawing blood from adult and pediatric patients, processing of blood and non-blood specimens, operating centrifuges, and entering patient information into the computer system. The role assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks, aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies, and may be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. The Laboratory Assistant ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred
- May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy
- Collecting, preparing and processing specimens biological specimens
- Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks
- Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies
- May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results
