About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for assisting in preparing specimens for testing and assisting with cleaning and organizing the laboratory. The position requires adherence to all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance standards, as well as meeting productivity standards. The employee must be able to ensure HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance policy, procedures, and standards are always adhered to, as well as administrative, physical, and technical cyber security controls. The role involves working in a high pressure/high stress environment with moderate noise levels and may require an extended schedule as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum requirement.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory practices
  • Ability to stand for long periods of the day, approximately 4-8 hours
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to ensure HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance policy, procedures, and standards are always adhered to
  • Ability to ensure administrative, physical and technical cyber security controls are always adhered to.

  • Read and understand standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Convert SOP instructions into work-related tasks.
  • Perform simple calculations as required in the SOP.
  • Use judgment when there is a deviation in the system and effectively communicate any discrepancy to their supervisor.
  • Tolerate a moderate noise level.
  • Work an extended schedule as needed.

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and setup samples for testing including validations, repeats, repipettes.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory and all equipment.
  • Assist with organization/Inventory of supplies for the laboratory.
  • Discard urine specimens per schedule.
  • Clean lab floors as necessary, checking for broken glass.
  • Responsible for aliquotting specimens for preparation of testing.
  • Responsible for accurately distinguishing colors in the urine specimens. Document and forward to a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for final approval.
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance.
  • Meet productivity standards.
  • Ensure HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance policy, procedures, and standards are always adhered to.
  • Ensure administrative, physical and technical cyber security controls are always adhered to.
